Originally from South Africa, Mark joined the IWSR in December 2013, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the publishing and business information industry.
Mark is tasked with firmly setting the IWSR as the world’s most-trusted data and insights company for the global drinks industry. He has over 20 years’ experience working for world-class organisations, having worked at The Guardian and Independent newspapers in various commercial and editorial roles, as well as at Datamonitor and Progressive Digital Media (owners of Canadean) as CEO.
Tim is an Engineering graduate and a Chartered Accountant with over twenty years of experience in senior finance roles in a business to business environment. Tim qualified with Deloitte leaving them in 1996 to move into a business environment, with an emphasis on businesses under private equity ownership. He was Group Finance Director of the pan-European vending business Autobar and more recently acted as CFO for a smaller UK based energy management business.
Alastair joined the IWSR in 1988 after graduating from Edinburgh University. Since then, he has researched more than half of the countries covered by the IWSR. Alastair ran and grew the company twelve-fold as managing director from 1995 to 2013.
Damien has 20 years’ experience in the business information industry and has worked for leading organisations such as Ovum, Datamonitor and 451 Research. During this time, Damien has supported clients large and small, from all sectors and across all continents.
As an experienced leader of sales, marketing and client services teams, Damien’s role is to lead our commercial teams to develop the IWSR’s propositions and portfolio of services to ensure our clients maximise the value of their engagement with the IWSR.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Research & Operations
Emily has managed research teams and delivered market insights to consumer goods companies, in particular global beverages clients, for over two decades. She developed from concept and led the teams that built industry-leading global beer and other consumer databases. Previously CEO of Canadean (Globaldata), Emily started her career as a consumer goods analyst in the City, and her client experience includes many of the world’s leading consumer brands.
Brandy Rand has over 17 years marketing and management experience in the beverage alcohol industry. She has worked on dozens of global brands for Allied Domecq Spirits & Wines and Bacardi USA and has held strategic consulting roles with several companies in the emerging craft and innovation sector. With her knowledge of the beverage industry, consumer insights and passion for uncovering trends, she’s also known as an accomplished educator and writer.
At the IWSR, Brandy oversees the US and Canada as well as global marketing and public relations.
Graziella has a very strong international background which is a prerequisite when dealing with a global market like the wine and spirits industry. She is French Italian and has also lived in Spain. She has travelled extensively to meet clients in Europe and the US when she used to work in the pharmaceutical industry as an account manager selling syndicated research and consultancy to international companies.
Shin Kim has held management roles across various industries including finance, product development and brand management in retail. Most recently, he was the US commercial finance manager at Edrington. He brings a wide range of expertise and skills to the IWSR where he works with our clients on business development.
Jose Luis is Research Director for France and South America for the IWSR. He has covered research for the Mexico alcoholic drinks market for the last four years and has covered countries in all five continents during his 18 years at the IWSR.
Tommy grew up in Luxembourg with English and Spanish parents and is fluent in four of the world’s most widely spoken languages. After gaining a master’s degree in biochemistry from Cambridge University, he spent five years studying and working in China in a variety of industries ranging from cinema to pharmaceuticals.
After gaining 1st Class Honours in economics and Spanish at the University of Sussex, the lure of foreign travel and the chance to exercise his linguistic and analytical muscle led Daniel Mettyear straight to the IWSR.
Now research director for the wine category and Africa region, Daniel has gained extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of over 20 markets across five different regions during his time at the IWSR.
During her career in the market research and business information industry, Sandra has specialised in covering the travel-retail sector for several years. She holds a degree in business administration and French, as well as an MRS diploma in market research.
Originally from Poland, Piotr did a business studies degree at the University of West London. One of our most senior researchers, Piotr set up the IWSR’s US office, and his extensive annual travel schedule has included Central and Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Southeast Asia markets.
Adam has spent a decade in the research industry with a focus on beverage alcohol. He began his research career with Millward Brown, a global market research, insight and consultancy division of London-based WPP plc. At the Beverage Information Group in the US, Adam was responsible for producing seven statistical handbooks and two online databases.
Adam joined the IWSR in October 2016 to cover the US market, expanding the IWSR’s coverage of the craft industry, beer and other specialty areas. Adam is part of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, Brewers Association and the Wine and Spirits network.
Prior to joining the IWSR Humphrey gained extensive experience in marketing and corporate communications in publishing and investment banking following a degree in French and Italian at Cambridge and a stage at the European Commission in Brussels.
He is fluent in French, Italian and Spanish and in 2012 qualified for the Advanced WSET Level 3 award in wine and spirits.
